Are You Ready For Some Football????

Well, the walk-a-thon went well this morning. "Little Miss Responsible" was a little upset with my not so great singing as we walked the track but it was still fun...The Chili Cook off was a no go today since we did not have the proper coverage for the store. Hopefully they will remember us next year! We love to help out our community.

The Chili is cookin' for the big game! Come in and stock up! "The Soup King" is not a big sports fan but we will accommodate those of you who are planning parties.

French Onion Soup will be back this week along with our awesome Lobster Bisque! Everyone who tries it comes back for more! I will keep you posted on our additional surprises for the week! Enjoy the big game!

So...The News of the Day...

Happy Birthday to our "Bread Guy". Hope he enjoys a great day with his family and friends! We are pushing along getting ready for fun events this weekend. Cardinal Mooney High School is sponsoring a walk-a-thon to raise money for a children's hospital. Their goal is to raise five thousand dollars...There will be food and drinks. We are donating Vegetable Soup and Chili for the event. We will be there supporting our daughter who is walking and participating in all of the fun!!

"The Boy" has two soccer games on Saturday as well so this will be a great balancing act for us! It also sounds like "The Soup King" will be participating in a Chili Cook-Off. It will help raise money and food for the All Safe Food Bank....I have to get all the details. I will keep you posted!!!!

Welcome to the Sandwiches!

"The Soup King" has brought his sandwiches to life! He has talked about it for some time now but here we go.....Some of us are a little worried because the sandwiches take a little longer and slow down the lines a bit. I guess once we make enough we will be pros! The rush today has proven to be interesting. There is a lot of different opinions floating about how the sandwiches should be handled. What FUN!!!!

As for the soups, they are going well. My favorite has shifted to the Chili. Love to dip my bread in it and just enjoy!!! As for the employees, well we really aren't sure any more. "Fire Chick" is still kickin' around and doing a good job, "Muscle Guy" well, him and "Little Miss Responsible" have been having too much fun and have had their hands smacked! (Not by me, I like fun). "Green Car", she had a run in with "Grammy" and we are not sure if she is coming back or not. "The Teenie Boppers", well I guess they are just not interested. We keep trying to give them hours but they never seem to want to come in!!??!!? We do have someone new helping us out in the kitchen and serving area, in comes in with "Back-Up". He helps with everything, even with our construction business so I guess he is a Jack of all Trades. I need to work on his nickname. This is a working progress!!!

I will keep you posted on the soups of the week once I can get "The Soup King" to sit down for five minutes and actually talk to his wife!!! Until then have a great day and remember to always smile! It uses less energy tosmile than it does to frown...

Welcome Back To The Rush!!!!!

If you cook it, they will come! "The Soup King" is cooking everyday and I mean like three to four soups a day.....CRAZY! Seafood Gumbo has made its return this week and it was smellin' mighty good when I left today. We have had great success with our Vegetarian Peasant soup for the last week so that might be a keeper too. We are still kickin' the French Onion around because I like it(that's why he made it again). We were hit hard on Thursday. We were out of all of the popular soups by dinner. The Chili, well we just could not keep it in the kettle! Friday was pretty busy too but "Muscle Guy", "Grammy", and I did just fine.

We have had some issues with getting work done due to "Fire Chick" having some issues. She was out the door but then "The Soup King" was willing to help her out one last time.....No lates and no more no shows or else!!!!! "Green Car" is muttling through with everyone. She is a good catch because we call, she shows up. We ask, she does!! We like it! "The Teeny Bops" (our two teenagers) will be making an appearance this week. Hopefully we can work some more hours in for them...they are very cute and happy all of the time.

The "Little Ones" were working hard this week at the store. "The Soup King" was away and we certainly did not play this time. We were very busy in and out of the store. They did a good job balancing all of the work they had to take on....plus prep for Grandpop from PA!!!!!

My big brother and father are in route and should arrive in Sarasota by midnight. Everyone is wide awake anticipating their arrival. I can't wait to see how the big dog(literally, 150lb dog) handled the car ride with the two men!!!! My father will be here for at least a month but my big brother ventures back home on Tuesday. I am hoping to entertain them on Monday. I would like my brother to see the Gulf before he heads out. I am trying to get him to bring the whole family down for a visit! We miss them so much!!

"The Soup King" has found a very good spot for his next store. It looks like we will be up and running in about six months depending on the permit process. "The Little Ones" are not very excited about it because they would like him to build our house first. They will understand one day!

Hope to see everyone soon...Remember to leave your suggestions by the store so we can keep you guessing!

It's Gonna Get Cold Outside!!!

The cold weather is coming for everyone here in the Sunshine State! It will be perfect for me though.....I can't wait! Soup is on, anyone hungry??? I am hoping that this funky cold front will bring everyone in to warm up on Wednesday. I am also hoping that it leaves by the time my father and brother get here on Sunday! It is going to be 18 degrees on Friday in PA! They are looking for some sun!

"Grammy" was hit with some issues today..."Frick" was home sick so I was unable to man the register today. Our "back up" was broken down on the side of the highway just north of Tampa and "Muscle Guy" had to hit the gym before coming in this morning. The food delivery was late and "Fire Chick" moved along well. I really don't think that there were many issues just funny little things to step over, no worries. "Drama" had dance tonight so I was able to help out before and after her class. Everyone was fine. "Green Car" is even starting to have some fun when she is in.

I believe that "The Soup King" will be making a Gumbo by the end of the week, a very good choice if you ask me. We have a busy day tomorrow, we will be making a fresh batch of Potato and Ham and a fresh batch of Broccoli and Cheese!!!! Fun stuff......

I am so excited to say that we have had a customer leave a very nice comment on our blog and then made some very nice comments on his own. For that I thank you! I hope everyone remembers that we are interested in what you have to say and we do want you happy! If "The Soup King" doesn't like it, he is not serving it! So please, share your thoughts and ideas with us! We love the feedback(preferably good feedback but we accept all~hee-hee!!)!

What Else is New????

"The Soup King" is gone again.......back to where I want to be in PA!!!! Nice and cold!!!! We are working hard at the store....fresh batches of soup everyday. Things are beginning to pick up a little bit, hopefully we will get back to our busy schedule soon. We have three specials this week again! French Onion, which is really yummy, Minestrone, "The Soup King's" own, and Vegetarian Peasant Soup, very healthy! They are all very good. The Potato and Ham is of course awesome!

Back to our everyday drama...."Green Car" is working out well for the most part. Our disappearing teenagers showed up last Friday looking for hours......So, where do we fit them in right now???? "Grammy" is still pushing along (that is The Soup King's mom) with no melt downs so far, "Muscle Guy" was full of the devil today. He was teasing our "Fire Chick" ( I call her that because she brings some funky fire candy to work all the time). She works hard and is always worried that she is going to be fired, which is very silly! We like her so we will keep her! We have fun when we can. Then of course there is me, I like to laugh but get moody at times...Today was crappy, I broke two nails! Now back to see Sonia before she goes away!!!! I could cry. I know, I should be thankful that is the only thing upsetting me, well, I tend to not think about the bigger issues. Ignorance is bliss at times! "The Boy" is doing better with his attitude but still has room for improvement. "Drama"(the 11 year old) is just being herself. "Miss Responsible" is picking up the slack for the rest of us, I hope she stays good! "Frick and Frack" are just happy not to be at the store and very content to work on their Legos!

My Daddy is coming to visit for awhile and I can't wait! He is driving down with my big brother and the big dog!!!! That should be fun. My first family visitor from home I just can't wait....plus I miss him so much. I miss them all so much! April can't get here fast enough! Yes, another journey home.

"The Soup King" is very busy working on getting our house sold in PA and looking at new locations....He is also working on his construction business. Yes, he is always working! He does like to play at times but those times are very far and few between the rest of his schedule! I can't wait to see what he cooks up for next week's specials. I'm hoping for a Cream of Chicken!!! Pop in and see....

Back To Work!

Monday has brought us back to our normal routine....The little ones were not eager to get up for school.(Can't blame them for that!) Seems that we have had some drama at "The Soup King" while we were gone....Our teenagers, who we thought were great decided that they did not want to work, another decided to have a little too much fun, and another well, she is trying very hard. "The Soup King" has hired someone new, "Green Car", as he calls her. It sounds like everyone likes her so that is a plus. "The Muscle Guy" is still working hard, not only for us but at the gym as well....everyday for both! Doesn't anyone believe in taking things easy????

The soups are moving along nicely even though the holiday season has slowed things down a bit. "The Soup King" is not discouraged at all. He is currently looking for a second location and is talking about adding sandwiches to the menu. Not just any sandwiches, fresh baked ham, oven roasted turkey, and of course a fresh roast beef. "The Soup King" is also on the hunt for his second location. Anything to make me crazy!!!! He has actually found two more locations that he would like to set up in but I think he needs to learn to be patient! Good things come to those who wait! Unfortunately, wait is not part of "The Soup King's" vocabulary. There are a lot of words that he chooses not to include in his vocabulary.........

The special this week is Potato and Leek soup. We are working on other options as well..Fresh Broccoli and Cheese will be out by days end! Looking forward to seeing you soon!
