What Exactly Does "Hearty" Mean? Well......

So something interesting has taken place at The Soup King. We received an email with a complaint. I am not really sure what the specific complaint was about....I think it began with the lack of grilled chicken for a salad. Mind you it was 8:10pm when ordered, we close at 8pm. Anyway, the gentleman also complained about our young girl behind the counter. This is a first for "Drama"! To sum it up we were told that our salads are not "hearty" without meat and that we should know that "hearty" means meat. Little clarification on the definition of hearty ~providing abundant nourishment; "a hearty meal"; "good solid food"; so cucumbers, egg, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, cheese, these are for the most part solid? Yes? Yes, chicken is offered. We have very little requests for chicken on our salads. We carry it on a limited supply to maintain freshness.

This individual continued to attack out "Little Ones" who are present in the store. He claimed that we are looking for cheap labor and that young people are prone to mistakes. We are not looking for cheap labor, we are looking to teach our children what it means to work hard for things in this world. Life does not hand you anything, you must work for it, earn it. So I am sorry that in the process of starting a new business I am utilizing the experience to educate some of the youth of today. I would like all of our young people to understand and respect this idea. Too many believe in the idea of entitlement. If I have my way, my "Little Ones" will not grow up with that idea.

As for making mistakes, well, I can certainly say that "Drama" did not make a mistake. We receive nothing but compliments about how efficient she is and how polite she is. I believe that this individual just enjoys throwing stones and decided to pick on her. Actually, he decided to pick on all of us. He also claimed that he would not eat at our establishement again. Obviously, someone who is unhappy with us makes me unhappy, but I have learned that some people will never be happy regardless of how you try to accommodate them.

Obviously this issue bothered me. "The Soup King" responded to his email with a short but sweet response. I guess trying to debate with an individual like this is a waste of time. "Muscle Guy" remembers this individual very clearly and he is hoping that he does not return to the store. We do not need any bad karma!!!

On a happier note, "The Soup King" is working on three signature items for the spring and is prepping for his cold soups!!! He was making something yummy with strawberries, vanilla yogurt, white wine, and a few other items that looked and smelled good! Hope I get to taste it!!

Well, if anyone has advice to share with me on my situation that would be great! I am trying to stay positive in every way, but this just was out there!!!!

She says there is nothing to write about!!!

So "Little Miss Responsible" says that there is nothing to write about. Nothing exciting ever happens. I beg to differ! Last week was crazy! "The Soup King" was in Pa for six days and left me with the store and all of the "Little People"!! Some how that just doesn't seem fair! Yes he was working but he was without children. "Muscle Guy" helped out when he was in but he was out sick for two days too!!! "Grammy" and I were not on speaking terms so that made for fun too. The drama was just flying everywhere! But no problem! We got things done. Paperwork and all! When he came back on Saturday I told him that I really could take care of business without him....especially since I have the recipes now! He claims that I need him for the name.....I guess he is right.

"Drama" has been working for over a month, saving her tips, of course for a reason. She wanted an I-phone. She did a good job and finally got her phone last Thursday. Now the other two older "Little Ones" want phones too. My, my, little work then we will talk!!!! Unfortunately for me I have been suffering with a toothache since last week. Tomorrow is D-day for me! The DENTIST! yuck! Never liked the dentist, childbirth is easier if you ask me!

St. Patty's Day was very quiet. We have corned beef, rye bread, and cole slaw!!! I never had it before today and it was pretty good! Thousand island dressing with Swiss cheese, toasted~ It was yummy! I think it will be available all week. If not there will be plenty for me to eat!!!!

We also have someone new helping us out in the kitchen, we call him "Sarg.". He is our military man who knows just about everyone in the area! He is a lot of fun....he likes to whistle while he works!

So she still claims there isn't anything to write about.....oh the drama I could write about!!! With our heartaches and our laughs there is so much that I have to filter. Some like to keep their dirty laundry to themselves. I really don't care who knows.....I have nothing to hide! Besides, if we can't laugh about things that happen then we would cry.....Who wants that??

The soups are on a steady flow......what specials is "The Soup King" working on? Well, your guess is as good as mine..Drop us a line and maybe we will surprise you with something new and out of the ordinary! That's the goal!!!! Shock me! Shock me! Shock me! (from one of my favorite movies....can you guess which one?)

Well off to prep for the new day....Please do not let the heat keep you away!!!! The salads and sandwiches are yummy too!!! Besides, of course there will always be soup for you!!! Chat again soon! Remeber to laugh!

March is Here!!!!

Yeah! Another month for "The Soup King"!!!!!! Things have been moving along very nicely over the last month.....March should bring us the luck if the Irish!!! We will have to talk to "The Soup King" about a festive soup for this month. The Seafood Gumbo is going to become a new member of our menu. So many of our guests enjoy it that we just can't make enough!!!! Italian Wedding Soup is also a big hit this week. It also sounds like the Texas Chili will be making a claim for a long term spot on the menu as well. Soups just keep bubbling and bubbling.......it is very exciting. The cold weather is keeping us on our toes...

"Muscle Guy" is working and working as usual..."Fire Chick" is still on track for now, the new girl is, well, she is hanging out for now. "Grammy" is working the kitchen hard and finally leaving at night instead of working open to close everyday.....(everyone needs a break). The "Little Ones" are back and in the swing of things again. We had a blast at Disney over the weekend!!! We saw my family and it was awesome!!!!! My sister and her two kids are in for the week......I wish I could have spent the whole week with them. April can't come fast enough...another visit home!

"The Soup King" is working hard on new things(and not just soups!!). The second store should be up and running in about three months. The "Little Ones" are a little worried because they want to go home for the summer. The second store might make our visit a little shorter than planned!
